Vigésimo Sexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario / Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Los padres fieles y amorosos que tienen problemas porque sus hijos no asisten regularmente a la iglesia o se han casado fuera de la iglesia, pueden encontrar consuelo en esta parábola. A menudo, estos niños que parecen estar diciendo un no público, están diciendo un sí en voz baja por el tipo de vida que llevan. A veces un hijo, un cónyuge o un amigo, no asiste a la iglesia por alguna mala experiencia o porque la imagen de Dios que le enseñaron era pobre. Estas mismas personas pueden vivir su sí a Dios a través de sus acciones. El Evangelio reconoce que no son las palabras ni las apariencias las que cuentan, sino las acciones. Todos pueden cambiar y hacer lo que Dios pide. A veces es más honesto decir no que ofrecer un sí y no hacerlo.

Faithful and loving parents who are trouble because their children do not regularly attend church or have married outside of the church may find this parable a consolation. Often these children who seem to be saying a public no are saying a quiet yes by the kind of lives they live. Sometimes a child, a spouse, or a friend does not attend church because of some bad experience or because the image of God he or she was taught was a poor one. These same people can live their yes to God through their actions. The Gospel recognized that it is not words or appearances that count, but actions. Everyone can change and do what God asks. Sometime it is more honest to say no than to offer a meaningless yes.
