You Have the Words of Eternal Life / Tienes Palabras de Vida Eterna
In this journey called life as followers of God, there are times when we get lost and feel dry in our faith. There are times when we have already learned the values of God but still followed worldly cares. There are times when we feel God's presence in us but worldly pleasures pulled us away from God. Unless we grow in spiritual life and holiness, its hard to accept and live out the teachings of Jesus. Conforming our life to that of Jesus is never an easy task because it entails to live out the Gospel values. Just a simple test: How many of us regularly feed the hungry or give to the thirsty or shelter the homeless or visit the sick and imprisoned or bury the dead? How many of us faithfully do Spiritual and Corporal Works of mercy? Worldly values remain to be enticingly easier than faith values. More often we follow what the world tells us to do. Maybe we often Heard people saying, “follow your appetite or follow your thirst or follow your heart or follow your dreams or follow me on Twitter or Facebook, Etc”. If we've been following all these things, there would be no place for us to follow the values and teachings of God. However Jesus' words are spirit and life. It is not the flesh but the Spirit that gives life. Let us be guided by the values of God in this journey to eternal life. And may the words of Simon Peter be ours too, “Master to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life”. Amen!
En este viaje llamado vida como seguidores de Dios, hay veces que nos perdemos y nos sentimos secos en nuestra fe. Hay veces en las que ya hemos aprendido los valores de Dios pero seguimos con las preocupaciones mundanas. Hay veces que sentimos la presencia de Dios en nosotros pero los placeres mundanos nos alejan de Dios. A menos que crezcamos en vida espiritual y santidad, es difícil aceptar y vivir las enseñanzas de Jesús. Conformar nuestra vida a la de Jesús nunca es una tarea fácil porque implica vivir los valores del Evangelio. Una simple prueba: ¿Cuántos de nosotros alimentamos regularmente a los que tienen hambre o damos de comer a los que tienen sed o damos refugio a los indigentes o visitamos a los enfermos y encarcelados o enterramos a los muertos? ¿Cuántos de nosotros realizamos fielmente obras de misericordia espirituales y corporales? Los valores mundanos siguen siendo tentadoramente más fáciles que los valores de la fe. Más a menudo seguimos lo que el mundo nos dice que hagamos. Tal vez escuchamos a menudo a la gente decir, “sigue tu apetito o sigue tu sed o sigue tu corazón o sigue tus sueños o sígueme en Twitter o Facebook, Etc”. Si hemos estado siguiendo todas estas cosas, no habría lugar para que sigamos los valores y enseñanzas de Dios. Sin embargo las palabras de Jesús son espíritu y vida. No es la carne sino el Espíritu el que da vida. Dejémonos guiar por los valores de Dios en este viaje hacia la vida eterna. Y que las palabras de Simón Pedro sean también las nuestras: “Maestro, ¿a quién iremos? Tú tienes palabras de vida eterna”. Amén.
