Vigésimo Sexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario / Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

"El Evangelio de hoy nos habla de la presencia de alguien que expulsaba demonios en nombre de Jesús, pero que no andaba con el grupo de Jesus. Tal acontecimiento lo reporta el Apóstol Juan a Jesús, con estas palabras: 'Como no es uno de los nuestros, se lo prohibimos'. Jesús no aprueba ni aplaude la prohibición, sino que dice: 'todo aquel que no está contra nosotros, está con nosotros'."

Preguntas para Reflexión Personal:

¿Quién es la persona menos pensada en quien que he visto al Espíritu de Dios obrar?

¿Qué criterios utilizo para determinar si lo que la gente hace y dice refleja el Espíritu de Dios?

¿Me siento amenazado por quienes veo actuando en nombre de Dios?

¿Cuándo he visto a alguien censurado o rechazado por no pertenecer al grupo adecuado? ¿Fui parte de ese grupo que censura?

¿Cómo me siento respecto del ecumenismo y el diálogo interreligioso? ¿Reconozco la obra del Espíritu en otras denominaciones? ¿A quién veo haciendo la obra de Dios en el mundo?

Tanto Moisés como Jesús, testifican que ninguna institución puede confinar la obra del Espíritu y que nadie puede monopolizar al Espíritu.

"The Gospel of today tells us of the presence of someone who was expelling demons in the name of Jesus, but who was not an official member of the group of his followers. The version of the story is reported by the Apostle John to Jesus, with these words: 'Since he is not one of us, we prohibited him from doing that'. Jeus neither approves not applauds this prohibition, rather, He says: 'anyone who is not against us is with us'."

Questions for Personal Reflection:

Who is the most unlikely person in whom I have seen the Spirit of God at work?

What criteria do I use to determine if what people do and say reflects the Spirit of God?

Am I threaten by those I see acting in God's name?

When have I seen someone censored or shunned because he or she did not belong to the right group?

Was I part of the censoring group?

How do I feel about ecumenism and interfaith dialogue? Do I recognize the work of the Spirit in other denominations? Whom do I see doing God's work in the world?

Moses and Jesus both attest to the fact that the work of the Spirit cannot be confined by an institution, and that no one can claim a monopoly of the Spirit.
