Vigésimo Séptimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario / Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
“La fe es como una mariposa: nunca se quedaquieta por mucho tiempo, siempre cambia derumbo y a veces difícil de agarrar. Algunaspersonas muestran una fe inquebrantable en losmomentos más difíciles. Una anciana,hospitalizada por una enfermedad terminal, lepidió a su párroco que agradeciera a Dios porconfiarle sus aflicciones y darle la fuerza parasoportarlas con fe. ¿Cómo encaja esto con lalectura del Evangelio? A algunas personas lespuede resultar difícil tomar en serio la parábolade Jesús en el Evangelio. Jesús les dice a susdiscípulos que si su fe fuera del tamaño de ungrano de mostaza, podrían decirle a un sicómoroque se mueva. A veces las personas sedesmayan ante las circunstancias másinsignificantes, cuando un poco más deconfianza en el amor de Dios les ayudaría a saliradelante.
A nadie le gusta que lo consideren inútil. Dios no nos necesita para lograr la salvación; participar en la construcción del reino de Dios es un don, no algo de lo que jactarse. Quienes exageran sus sacrificios se centran en sí mismos en lugar de Dios.”
“Faith is like a butterfly, never staying in one place for a long time, always changing course, sometimes elusive. Some people exhibit immovable faith in the most difficult times. One elderly woman, hospitalized with a terminal illness, asked her pastor to thank God for trusting her with her afflictions and giving her the strength to endure it with faith. How does this mesh with the reading from the Gospel? Some people may find Jesus’ parable in the Gospel difficult to take seriously. Jesus tells the disciples that if their faith were the size of a mustard seed, they would be able to tell a sycamore tree to move. Sometimes people wilt under the smallest of the circumstances, when just a little more confidence in the love of God would see them through.
No one likes to be thought of as useless. God does not need us to accomplish salvation; participation in building the reign of God is a gift, not something to boast about. People who aggrandize their sacrifices are focused on themselves instead of God.”
