La Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia / The Feast of the Holy Family
“La Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia fue establecida por el papa Benedicto XV en 1921. Desde el siglo XIX los cimientos de la familia cristiana se han venido quebrando con los cambios de la sociedad, trayendo gran dolor a niños, mujeres, hombres, y ancianos. San Juan Pablo II en su exhortación apostólica 'Familiaris consortio' nos habla sobre la misión de la familia cristiana en los tiempos modernos.
El papa Francisco dijo: 'El mensaje que proviene de la sagrada familia es sobre todo un mensaje de fe. En la vida familiar de María y José en Nazaret Dios está verdaderamente al centro, y lo está en la persona de Jesús. Por eso es santa: porque está centrada en Jesús.'
Cuando los padres y los hijos respiran juntos este clima de fe, poseen una energía que permite a ellos afrontar pruebas también difíciles, como muestra la experiencia de la Sagrada Familia, por ejemplo en el evento dramático de la huida a Egipto. El Niño Jesús, con su Madre María y con San José, es un icono familiar sencillo pero sobre todo luminoso. La luz que ella irradia es luz de misericordia y de salvación para el mundo entero, luz de verdad para todo hombre, para la familia humana y para cada familia. Esta luz que viene de la Sagrada Familia nos anima a ofrecer calor humano en aquellas situaciones familiares en las cuales, por diversos motivos, falta la paz, falta la armonía y el perdón.”

The Child Jesus, with his Mother Mary and Saint Joseph, is a simple, but above all, luminous family icon. The light it radiates is a light of mercy and salvation for the whole world, a light of truth for every person, for the human family, and for every family. This light that comes from the Holy Family encourages us to offer human warmth in those family situations where, for various reasons, peace, harmony, and forgiveness are lacking.”
