Solemnidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo Rey del Universo / Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

Dice San Ignacio de Loyola que “Hay que poner el amor más en las obras que en las palabras. El Evangelio de hoy es muy ilustrativo. Cada obra de caridad que hacemos, la hacemos al mismo Cristo: Porque estuve hambriento y me dieron de comer; era forastero y me hospedaron; estaba desnudo, y me vistieron; encarcelado y fueron a verme. Más todavía: ‘Cuando lo hicieron con el más insignificante de mis hermanos, conmigo lo hicieron” (Mt 25,34-36, 40).

Cristo Rey nos muestra que el sentido de la realeza -o autoridad- es el servicio a los demás. Por ejemplo, el padre de familia que se levanta a media noche porque su hijo esta llorando; quien visita a un amigo en el hospital; el mesero(a) que esta al pendiente de sus clientes.

St. Ignatius of Loyola states: “Love is shown more in deeds than in words. Today's Gospel is very illustrative. Every act of charity we do, we do it to Christ Himself: ‘For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me. Even more so: “Whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Mt 25:34-36, 40).

Christ the King shows us that the meaning of kingship - or authority - is serving others. For example, a parent who gets up in the middle of the night to answer a crying child, a friend who visits someone in the hospital, a good waiter or waitress who is attentive to the customers.
