Decimosexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario / Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
"Vengan conmigo a un lugar solitario, para que descansen un poco." Hoy, el Evangelio nos invita a descubrir la importancia de descansar en el Señor. Una de las tentaciones a las que puede sucumbir cualquier cristiano es la de querer hacer muchas cosas descuidando el trato con el Señor. El Catecismo recuerda que, a la hora de hacer oración, uno de los peligros más grandes es pensar que hay otras cosas más urgentes y, de esa forma, se acaba descuidando el trato con Dios.
San Pedro Julián Eymard recomendaba descansar en Jesús después de comulgar. Y advertía del peligro de llenar la acción de gracias con muchas palabras dichas de memoria. Decía, que después de recibir el Cuerpo de Cristo, lo mejor era estar un rato en silencio, para reponer fuerzas y dejando que Jesús nos hable en el silencio de nuestro corazón. A veces, mejor que explicarle a Él nuestros proyectos es conveniente que Jesús nos instruya y anime." Solo Dios me hace reposar, me conduce a fuentes tranquilas, y reparara mis fuerzas (Salmo 22).
Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." Today, the Gospel invites us to discover the importance of resting in the Lord. One of the temptations to which any Christian can succumb is that of wanting to do too many things and thus leaving the Lord a little to the side. The Catechism reminds us that, when it comes to prayer, one of the biggest dangers is that you can easily think that there are bigger, more important and more urgent things to be done, leading to a lack of care for the things of God.
St. Peter Julian Eymard recommended that one should rest with Jesus after receiving Holy Communion. He warned of the danger of filling up with many memorized words the time after Communion. He said that, after receiving the Body of Christ, the best thing to do is to stay in silence for a while to regain our strength and to let Jesus talk to us in the silence of our hearts. Sometimes, rather than telling Him about our plans and projects it is better that we let Jesus instruct and encourage us. Only God gives me repose, leads me to restful waters, and refreshes my soul. (Psalm 23).
